Let’s start with an introduction. Tell us about yourself. Feel free to share your business, your life’s mission, and what brings you joy.

My name is Esmeralda Locke. I'm a Wife, Mother, Business owner, Philanthropist, Author, Seer, Builder and Connector, Kingdom BuildHER, Born-again follower of Christ with a desire to see women from all walks flourish in their life, work, and calling.

In 2019, I founded 100G, a community of women who empower other women by supporting local women shelters and creating events like U Dance for Freedom. A yearly event that raises money and awareness for victims of human trafficking.

In 2021, 100G evolved into FLRSH (Flourish) and became a for-profit organization.

My work over the last few years has been largely focused in creating and marketing merch online, and coming alongside other organizations to help them create their own product lines to market and sell.

In addition to that, my desire to see other faith based non-profits and small businesses financially thrive. I also am a co founder of > good. A bespoke financial service to serve the greater good. My passion is to help people and organizations that have largely operated in obscurity discover their identity, find their voice and bring value and life to others.

One of my mentors helped me see that every idea comes from God, and if He trusted me with that vision, then no one can take it away from me.

Here at BBN, we’re all about sharing Women’s stories. Tell us about a time you had to overcome an obstacle? What did that moment in your life teach you?

Life is full of twists and turns, and as women in leadership, we may sometimes face unexpected challenges, including betrayal and competition from those closest to us. A few years ago, I had a friend who I trusted and worked closely with. We had big plans and dreams for our future, but one day she cut me off without explanation. I reached out to her, but she refused to answer my calls or messages.

To make matters worse, I soon realized that some of the ideas I had shared with her were being promoted on her social media platforms. I was devastated and hurt, but with time and reflection, I realized that my ideas were not mine to own, but rather gifts from God that I was called to steward.

One of my mentors helped me see that every idea comes from God, and if He trusted me with that vision, then no one can take it away from me. As I embraced this truth, I saw that my ex-friend eventually stopped promoting my idea and moved on to someone else's idea. I later found out that this pattern repeated itself with another mutual friend.

Through this experience, I learned that every obstacle can be an opportunity for growth and a chance to lean more deeply into my faith. As women in leadership, we must remember that our ideas are not ours to own, but rather precious gifts from God that we are called to steward with wisdom and humility. And when we do that, we can trust that He will cause us to be successful no matter what challenges we face.

We mothers in business can face a variety of challenges, but one of the biggest challenges is balancing the demands of motherhood with the demands of running a successful business.

What do you believe is the biggest challenge mothers in business face?

We mothers in business can face a variety of challenges, but one of the biggest challenges is balancing the demands of motherhood with the demands of running a successful business. Juggling childcare responsibilities, managing the household, and meeting work obligations.

What did the younger version of you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to work in the medical field as a lab tech.

What advice would you give mothers in business?

I would say, community is important. You will need people in your life that can bounce off ideas with. Also, prioritize self-care: As a mother in business, it can be easy to get caught up in the demands of motherhood and business, leaving little time for self-care. However, taking care of yourself is essential for your own well-being and your ability to run a successful business. Lastly, never be afraid to practice generosity in your business. I've found that giving back to the community through donations has not only positively impacted the cause, but it has also had a positive effect on my business, resulting in increased sales and brand recognition.
